HONEYDIP
are a guitar-driven, rock band from Melbourne, Australia.
The band's main influence is the 70s and 80s pop-rock
genre. This energized outfit take the best aspects of
their influences, inject them with freshness and spark
to produce the instantly infectious HONEYDIP brand of
guitar-pop with hooks that keep repeating in the listener's
head hours after hearing them.
Since their first release "Sticky", the band's sound has
evolved into a powerhouse of hooks and melodies, laced
with crunchy guitars. This is evident on their second
CD entitled "Breakup Songs and Dedications". Internationally
recognised UK Powerplay Magazine enthused over the well-crafted
melodies and clever lyrics. The third follow-up release
"...Number One On Mars" contains yet another batch of
catchy, foot-tapping tunes. The final, self-titled "honeydip"
disc is an absolute powerhouse, containing an explosion
of potential radio hits.
Founding members, Dean Misko and Tommy Govic honed their
chops playing in various local live acts before teaming
up almost ten years ago. After several personnel changes,
the line-up was finalized with the addition of David Holloway
on bass/background vocals and Adam Courtis on guitar.
HONEYDIP established themselves as one of Melbourne's
most promising independent bands. The band have appeared
on Nine Network's StarStruck and have had airplay on Planet
X - Xtreme Games, as well as getting airplay on local
and overseas radio stations, including being the featured
band on an episode of Planet Rock Radio Show which was
broadcasted nationally around Australia on major radio
stations.
HONEYDIP opened for artists such as Garbage, The Tea Party,
Nickelback, Midnight Oil, Lifehouse, Goo Goo Dolls, Billy
Idol, The Whitlams, Default and Simple Plan as part of
the M One concert at Telstra Dome in October 2002. HONEYDIP
music is regularly heard on Network Ten's "Neighbours".
Grundy Music are the publisher of a total of five of the
band's songs which are in regular rotation on the popular
TV soap.
